Foundation4Life

It’s all about life at Foundation4Life. The life of people. Especially of needy women and children in Nairobi, Kenya.

Foundation4Life supports single parent families in Kenya. These families are the poorest (monthly income up to € 20,-) and the mothers are often HIV-positive. But they are very motivated and take every chance they get.

The successful 4-way method of F4L
The 4 in the name of the foundation does not only mean ‘for’ live, but also stands for 4 integrated methods to help these families:

1. Education for the children, because education means an independent future! F4L pays the school fees and accompanying costs.
2. Fair salaries for the mothers. Paid work means income to take care of themselves and their children. Housing, food, etc. so the children can concentrate on school. F4L runs  small companies that employ the mothers.
3. Foster care for orphans. Together with other NGO’s we take care of the children when they have lost both parents so they can finish their education. Meanwhile F4L searches for relatives who are willing to house and/or support these orphans.
4. Export of jewelry, produced in one of the F4L companies by the mothers. In Holland these jewelry are sold through www.sieraden4life.nl and shops. Extra sales in Holland means extra jobs for poor women in Kenya.

This way Foundation4Life helps families from 4 angles. By giving structural help in this way, living conditions improve for already more than 1.000 women and children. Besides that, Foundation4Life is involved in some community work in the slums, such as food supply and sports activities. For the women and children in this program, the program makes the difference between night and day, between life and death.

The organization is recognized by the Dutch tax authorities as an official charity. The overhead does not exceed 15% so 85% of the annual income is directly invested in the Kenyan projects.
